Macedonia-Union County, MS-Betty Garner Carter, 80, passed away with her family surrounding her, on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the University Methodist Hospital in Memphis. She was born on June 23, 1938, in Macedonia community to Velma and Herman Garner. She was married to James Leonard Carter for 61 years, and together they were blessed with three sons, two granddaughters, and two great-grandsons.

Betty attended Macedonia School and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling with her granddaughters, attending her Sunday school class, and watching her great grandsons play baseball. She also loved spending time with her family, all under one roof. Her family feels blessed to have had such a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother in their lives.

Betty is survived by her husband, James, as well as two sons, Ronnie Lynn Carter (Diane) and Jeffrey (Jeff) Keith Carter (Wanda), and her sister, Clara Vance Garrison, all of the Macedonia community, two granddaughters, Jennifer Carter Burks (Ben) of the West Union community and Hannah Michelle Carter (Josh) of Boise, ID; and two great-grandsons Benton Carter Burks and Braxton Hardy Burks.

She is preceded in death by one son, David Carter, her parents, and her brother, James Melvin (Mug) Garner.

Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 PM on Thursday, November 15 at United Funeral Service in New Albany, MS. Her funeral service will be held directly after at 2:00PM, also at United Funeral Service, with Bro. David Grumbach and Bro. Bill Foley officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ben Burks, Josh Smith, Mitchell Jumper, Larry Kirk, Larry Reedy, and Jerry Garrison.!/Obituary
