James Lamar Tollison, 91, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at Union County Health and Rehab. He was born January 17, 1927 in New Albany to James Edgar and Lola Bell Wood Tollison. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church serving as an active deacon for over 50 years, retiring because of health problems. He retired from the carpentry business after 60 plus years because of poor health. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Germany. He has been a member of the American Legion Henry-Potter Lowrey Post 72 for 50 years and was selected to receive the Malcom Hickey Lifetime Service Award on August 8, 2017.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 5:00p.m. till 8:00p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 1:00p.m. till service time at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2:00p.m. on Monday at the church with Bro. Sammy McMillen and Bro. Keith Bolen officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. United Funeral Service will be in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lorene Teague Tollison; four daughters, Sara Len Robertson (Danny), Gwen Roberson (Tim), Becky McMillen (Sammy) and Glenda Mitchell (John); one brother, Alton Tollison (Faye); seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Frances Goggans and Bettie Jean Tollison.

Pallbearers will be James Dylan Fox, T.J. Roberson, Luke Roberson, Robert Teague, Michael Bloome, J.J. Pannell, Chris Holeman and John Brandon. The American Legion Post 72 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the American Legion Post 72.

In honor of Mr. Tollison’s service to his country, United Funeral Service will fly the U.S. Army flag during his visitation and funeral service.!/Obituary
