NEW ALBANY — Kathy Lynn Cimon, née Grubbs, a former matriarch who touched countless lives–from her youth in Westwood, Memphis to young motherhood in Vicenza, Italy and Eielson, Alaska; Tupelo, Mississippi and beyond—died on Thursday in New Albany, Mississippi. She forged many friendships, enriching and inspiring the souls of all who knew her, or merely knew of her.

Her daughter Jessica Cimon confirmed her death. Memorial Services for Kathy Cimon will be 11:00a.m. Saturday, August 26 in the chapel at United Funeral Services in New Albany with family and friends.

Born November 16, 1959, in Memphis, Tennessee; Kathy was the only daughter of the late Mary Adams, née Kelly, of Houlka and Willis Lethel Grubbs, respectively. Preceded in death is her partner Jackie Ray LaPrade.

Known adoringly by her many friends as Miss Kathy, sharing anecdotes and advice to any who would listen, she played many occupational roles in life from familial caretaker to waitress, before ill health forced her retirement. Later in life, Kathy spent her days with Jackie LaPrade, sharing a passion for food and cooking, they created meals and took pleasure in feeding all who couldn’t resist.

Two children who survive her are Jason Cimon of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Jessica Cimon of Nashville, Tennessee both of whom share a common father in Kenneth Cimon of Tupelo. Two brothers, Donnie Grubbs of Southaven and Randy Grubbs of Memphis further survive her along with three cousins: Rhonda Duggar of Blue Springs, Tammy Jo Green of Tupelo, and Heather Stoddard of Casterville, Georgia. She is additionally preceded in death by grandparents Gaston Grubbs and Flora Wood Grubbs; and grandparents Vera Kelly and Milton Kelly.

The family welcomes all to help celebrate the life of Kathy Lynn with stories and remembrances.
