Robert Ballard, New Albany horticulturalist who is involved in expanding the use of native plants in the landscape, is the guest speaker for Museum Moments, Thursday, February 21, 12 noon. His recent work in propagating native plant species is part of the nationwide movement to include native plants to attract and sustain birds, butterflies and other beneficial species and to combat the invasive species of plants.

There are many reasons to use native species in the landscape, including the conservation of water since the plants are adapted to local environmental conditions and to provide a sustainable habitat for birds and other species of wildlife, nectar for pollinators and as well as shelter.

Ballard will discuss his work with native species from the region and possible uses in landscape and cityscape for a friendlier environment.

The museum is located at 114 Cleveland Street in New /Albany. A light lunch is available at 11:30 courtesy of Kappa Kappa Iota. For more information call the museum at 662 538-0014.
