Blue Springs – Georgia Loyce Pickens Pannell, 97, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at her home. She was born April 27, 1919 in Union County to the late Silas and Myrtle Swan Pickens.
She was retired from Sterling Department Store. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
She was a profound Christian influence to a countless number of lives and was a charter member of Parks Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for fifty-five years.
Funeral services will be 2:00p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Sammy McMillen and Bro. Mike Brazeal officiating. Burial will be at Parks Community Cemetery. United Funeral Service will be in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband for 80 years, G. M. Pannell, Jr.; three daughters, Lora Pannell, Elaine Roberts (Lance) and Hilda Fooshee; a daughter-in-law, Kathryn Pannell; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; twenty-three great-great grandchildren and two great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Herschel Pannell; two sons-in-law, Jerry Pannell and Curtis Fooshee; a grandson, Tony Speck; and nine brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Rakestraw, Benny Rakestraw, Skipper Allen and deacons of Parks Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Bryant and Joe Bryant.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 11:00a.m. till service time at the funeral home.
