NAMS students learn about the legal system

,

Students in the 6th Grade Social Studies classes of Lori Moody, Brad Gray, and Larry Ashmore at New Albany Middle School read the Theodore Boone Kid Lawyer by John Grisham during the month of May.  These students had the additional opportunity to learn about careers in law and learn from guest speakers.

Mrs. Laura Fennell, a paralegal, spoke to the classes and answered questions about paralegal work. District Attorney Ben Creekmore talked with the students about law and how the court system works.  Ms. Andrea Myers (not pictured), a court reporter, brought her stenograph machine and shared with the students how it is used and talked with our classes about her job as a court reporter.
