Barbara McClure Tyre
October 31, 1945 – June 26, 2018
After a life well lived, Barbara McClure Tyre passed away on June 26, 2018.
Born to Oddis and Mary McClure on October 31, 1945, Barbara grew up in New Albany and graduated from W.P. Daniel High School with honors. She earned her bachelor degree in business administration from Memphis State University. A career businesswoman, she pursued her passion for retailing as the owner of Barbara in Belle Glade, Florida. She lived in Southern Florida for many years and returned to her hometown after the loss of her husband, Kenneth Tyre, in 1998.
She continued her career in retailing with a second store, Barbara Tyre, located in Historic Downtown New Albany. In 2001, she was awarded Mississippi Main Street Association Merchant of the Year. She was a fourth-generation member of First United Methodist Church in New Albany.
She leaves her mother, Mary McClure; brother, Ted McClure, and his wife, Carolyn; special niece, Jennifer McClure; and loyal companion, Callie.
She was preceded in death by Oddis McClure; Kenneth Tyre; parents in law C.W. and Geraldine Tyre; and sister in law Claudine Brown.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of Barbara’s life at 10:00am on Saturday, June 30, at First United Methodist Church in New Albany.
