William Mallory Farned, 71, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born September 15, 1947, in Houston, MS., to Sidney H. and Helen Boland Farned. He was a retired civil engineer and a member of First United Methodist Church in New Albany. He graduated from W. P. Daniel High School. He received a B. A. degree in Business from the University of Mississippi in 1969. He then enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve and proudly served for four years. He returned to Ole Miss and received his B. A. degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed with the Tennessee Valley Authority in Knoxville, TN., for 11 years. Upon returning to New Albany he was employed as a design engineer at Masterbilt. He formed Farned Engineering Company. He retired in 2011.

He loved music and was a member of The Dukes, a band formed with classmates while in high school. He later joined The Paul Rainey Band playing the guitar and saxophone. To many of his friends he was known as “Fender” because of his love of the guitar. For the past six years he has played his guitar with the choir at First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Rebecca (Becky) R. Farned; 3 daughters: Kristin Sharpe (Mike) of Tupelo, Sarah Deakins (Zach) of Houston, TX., and Holly Flanagan (Dwight) of Corinth; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother: James S. Farned (Gwen) of Biloxi, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Bill Kitchens, David Moore, Bob Pieczyk, Eddie Grisham, Barry Hamilton, and Billy Eubanks. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Paul Rainey Band.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church Music Ministry.
