Edited: 8/23/2019 11:00 PM: Union CountyCoroner Pam Boman has released the names of the two victims killed at the scene of the motor vehicle accident late this afternoon on Davis Road in New Albany. They were Christopher Alex Hogue and Christopher Wooten, both age 16, both of Tippah County.
The name of the third victim, who died at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, will not be released until tomorrow.
Edited: 8/23/2019 9:00 PM: According to New Albany Police Chief, Chris Robinson, a passenger who was taken to the hospital from the Davis Road accident has just died at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. The sole survivor of the wreck is in surgery at this time in the Tupelo hospital.
A two-vehicle wreck on Davis Road on the north side of New Albany killed two individuals and seriously injured two others at about 4:45 p.m. Friday afternoon.
New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson said there were two individuals in each of the cars. Robertson said one of the vehicles was southbound, the other northbound, and that they collided head-on.
Two individuals in one of the cars were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Two people in the other vehicle were seriously injured and were transported to the emergency room at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Identities of the two deceased individuals in the wreck on Davis Road are being withheld until next-of-kind are notified. That information will be posted on NAnewsweb.com when it is released by Union County Coroner Pam Boman.
Chief Robertson said one of the vehicles caught fire, but that the fire was quickly extinguished by fire fighters and equipment from the New Albany Fire Department.
Davis Road, also known as County Road 81, runs north from New Albany to intersect with Highway 15 at Cotton Plant.
