New Albany, MS– J W McMillen, 83, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at North Mississippi Medical Center – Hospice. He was born September 1, 1935 in Union County to Alfred Columbus McMillen and Evie Viola Wages McMillen. He was a retired carpenter.

He was a lifetime member of Fredonia Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Lions Club. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed selling his produce at the Farmer’s Market. He also enjoyed trips to the mountains, attending auctions and watching wrestling or westerns. He loved everyone he met, his church family and above all he adored his wife and family.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Chris Madison and Bro. Carl Weeden officiating. Burial will be at Ingomar Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Annie Ruth Hamblin McMillen; three daughters, Kay Wicker (Chuck), Kathy Moody (Steve) and Sonya Nobles (Mike); one son, Keith McMillen; eight grandchildren: Shane McMillen (Krisden), Jeremy McMillen (Diana), Adam McMillen (AnnaBrooke), Brett Wicker (Noel), Anna Rasberry (Anthony), Zach Moody, Logan Nobles and Madison Nobles; and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carmie Ruth McMillen; and four brothers, Perry McMillen, Ellie McMillen, Jimmy Dean McMillen and Bobby Joe McMillen.

Pallbearers will be Logan Nobles, Shane McMillen, Jeremy McMillen, Adam McMillen, Peyton Wicker, Brett Wicker, Zach Moody, Kris Cable, Michael McMillen and Chase McMillen. The American Legion will serve as honorary pallbearers.
