John Dee Adams Jr.
Blue Springs-John Dee Adams Jr., 86, departed from this world Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born June 7, 1932 to John Dee Adams Sr. and Bertha Greenhill Adams. John Dee was a member of Fairfield Presbyterian Church and lived most of his life in the Fairfield community. He farmed with his father until he took a job with Union County Co-Op, where he worked for 38 years. Throughout those years, he became friends with farmers all around the county and beyond.
John Dee married Jennie Ruth Crump in 1950. They had one son, Gary Adams, who has lived with them for the past ten years as their caregiver.
John Dee was well known for his beautiful gardens he grew and shared with everyone. He had a passion for crappie fishing and shared those with all who attended his Famous Fish Fry’s. All that knew him loved him for his compassion and his practical jokes that brought us all laughter.
He served on the Blue Springs Water Board for 24 years and enjoyed his work with his co-workers, and his special friend, David Boland.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie Ruth; his son Gary; one grandson, John Austin Adams (Terra); a great grandson, Jaxon Adams; and his sister, Eloise Foster.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul Adams; his sisters, Sarah Kelly, JoAnn Sowell and Brenda Coker.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 21 from 10:00 AM to noon with the funeral starting at noon.
All services will be held at Fairfield Presbyterian Church with Brother Tom Hewitt officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery. United Funeral Service will be in charge of the arrangements.
