NAES fifth graders celebrate “First Thanksgiving”

,

Lisa Topper’s Kindergarten class at New Albany Elementary School held their “First Thanksgiving Dinner” on Wednesday, November 15. Parents and school administration were invited to attend the event.

The students have been learning about our country’s history and how the Native Americans and Pilgrims were enemies at the beginning and became friends later.  Students dressed like Pilgrims and Indians and shared a Thanksgiving meal together.  The dinner consisted of some of the same foods they ate in the earlier days such as nuts, fruit, corn, and turkey and also had traditional Thanksgiving foods such as ham, dressing, green beans, rolls, pies, and cakes.
