Gingerbread Exchange

During the month of December, Balinda Denton and Christy Littlejohn’s classes at New Albany Elementary School participated in The Gingerbread Exchange. First grade students all across the country created gingerbread crafts and exchanged classroom letters. Denton says, “Students were so excited to receive mail and display the craft on the U.S. map.”

Letters were received from California, Illinois, Tennessee, Texas, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Oregon, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. This activity helped students learn how to locate states on the map. The classroom letters told information about students’ schools and towns. Littlejohn says, “It is a great experience that my students enjoy participating in each year.”
