Grandparents’ Day Celebrations

New Albany Elementary School hosted Grandparents Day Celebrations September 5-7. The Pre-K celebrated with grandparents on Wednesday, September 5. Kindergarten hosted their grandparents on Thursday, September 6. First graders enjoyed their grandparents’ visit on Friday, September 7. Students performed songs for their grandparents, presented them with crafts, and enjoyed cookies and juice with their grandparents.

Honoring our protectors

Cash Express sponsored a poster for New Albany Elementary School to express a special “Thank You” to all First Responders in honor of 9/11.  NAES Student Donovan Pulliman was the artist who drew the State Trooper and the students signed the poster.  The poster was placed on display at Cash Express.

Already thinking about careers

Fifth Grade: Suzy Bowman, Career Coach for New Albany Schools, spoke to a group of fifth grade students at New Albany Elementary School on Friday, September 21 about career planning.  Bowman led the students in an interactive game that encouraged the career exploration and money management.

First grade students at New Albany Elementary School recently learned about careers that involve animals.

This special career event was held on Friday, September 21.

Students rotated through five stations to learn about various careers and understand how these individuals work with animals in their daily jobs. First graders had the opportunity to learn from: Belinda Chism, Shallow Creek Bucking Bulls; Steve Coleman, Mississippi Department of Wildlife & Fisheries; Cool Creek Kennels; New Albany Police Department; and James Shannon, Mississippi State Extension Service-Pontotoc County.
