BOONEVILLE, Miss. – Children gearing up for local basketball leagues can begin preparations for their upcoming season by refining their skills at Northeast Mississippi Community College.

The men’s basketball program at Northeast will host its sixth annual Lil’ Dribblers youth camp during the first month of the new campaign inside legendary Bonner Arnold Coliseum.

It is open to both boys and girls that are currently enrolled in kindergarten through the sixth grade. The primary focus of the weekly event is to build upon the fundamentals of the sport in a fun and competitive environment.

Members of the Tigers’ 2018-19 squad, which is nationally ranked for the third consecutive year, as well as head coach Cord Wright will direct each of the three separate sessions.

Youngsters can improve their ball handling, defense, shooting mechanics, passing and rebounding through a variety of drills with the goal of developing proper playing habits.

Practices are scheduled to start promptly at 9:30 a.m. and last for approximately one hour during the initial three Saturday mornings of November on the Booneville campus.

The cost for kids to attend is $40. The price includes a Lil’ Dribblers t-shirt and complimentary admission to all home contests for both the Lady Tigers and Tigers this season.

To register, please visit www.nemccathletics.com and completely fill out the form that is available to print. Please make checks payable to the Northeast Development Foundation and send them plus the completed flyer to Northeast Basketball, 101 Cunningham Blvd., Booneville, Miss., 38829.

Each child that participates in Lil’ Dribblers will show off their new techniques between games during Northeast’s doubleheader versus Arkansas Baptist College on Tuesday, November 27.

This is an opportunity to learn from one of the most tradition-rich teams in the entire country. The Tigers have won over 30 major championships, including most recently the 2017 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) North Division title, during their illustrious history along with almost 20 All-Americans.

Northeast opens the season on Tuesday, November 6 as the Lady Tigers welcome Wallace State (Ala.) Community Çollege at Hanceville and the Tigers host Faith (Ark.) Preparatory Academy. Tipoff for the women’s matchup is at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow.
