Read it: MS HB 1523, the “Protecting Freedom of Conscience…Act”

NEMiss.News Mississippi House of Representatives

The controversy over House Bill 1523, the “Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act,” has roared through Mississippi, indeed all around the country during the past week.

We have read through the law several times. It is 13 pages in length, written in “legalese” and, thence, not the most enjoyable prose we have read recently. In reading HB 1523, it has struck us that people on both sides of this hot issue may not know what it actually says. Here is the link to the entire statute as published on the www.state.ms.us website.

We expect to post an analysis of HB 1523 later this week, and it will contain our opinion on what we think the law actually says.

We hope that some of our readers will also read the statute carefully, in its entirety, and share back to us at news@NAnewsweb.com your interpretation of the actual impact of this new law.

Happy reading! Here’s the link:
