The New Albany Main Street Association is excited to announce that artwork has been chosen to represent the 2018 Tallahatchie Riverfest. Several students from the Union County School District submitted pieces for review by the Riverfest Committee.

The four art students whose Riverfest artwork submissions were chosen are Kallie Ayres (1st Place), Katie Ayres (4th Place), Courtney Eaker (2nd Place), and Carmen Fuentes (3rd Place).

“The Main Street office was very excited to work with the Union County School District on this project,” remarked Tracy Vainisi, the assistant to the Main Street director. “We received many good pieces from students at both Ingomar and Myrtle Attendance Centers. The four that were chosen represented the themes of the Tallahatchie Riverfest, which are art, music, literature, and community.”

The art will be displayed on a variety of promotional items for the Tallahatchie Riverfest, including banners for the bridge over the Tallahatchie River and t-shirts. Main Street director, Billye Jean Stroud noted that this was hers and Vainisi’s first time to offer this opportunity to students for festival art. “We felt it was very successful”, Stroud said, “and this is just one way of showcasing the many talented students and citizens that we have in our community.”
